Update of COVID-19 Policy

Stilwell Public Library will be open to the public by appointment starting on Monday, May 22nd, 2020.  Because of this we will be enacting a few policy changes in order to meet the needs and concerns of our patrons.  Below are the changes you will be seeing.

  • The Staff will be in the library from Noon – 5:00, Monday – Friday to help you with your reading and computer needs.  We ask that you call ahead to make an appointment to use the computers or browse for books.  While there will not be time limits on the time patrons are allowed in the library, we do ask that patrons try to complete their tasks as quickly as possible so that others may also use the library.

  • Curb-side Pick-up will continue!  Patrons can contact us by phone  (641-637-4049), by email (nsstilwell@gmail.com), or on Facebook by Messenger with a list of the books that you want to read (the 5 books per patron will remain in effect) and we will gather them and you can pick them up at the curb the next day!  If you are house bound we would be happy to deliver the books to you also.  All items being returned need to be placed in the book drop on the northwest corner of the library building.

  • Late Fees:  Instead of late fees we will be collecting food items for the Care Food Pantry here in New Sharon.  You can drop these items in the book return or drop them in the tub designated for such donations in front of the library during the hours that librarians are present.

  • Computer Use:  Two of the Patron Computers may be used by patrons by appointment only.  We understand that many are working on their taxes, wanting to do their part to complete the census, filing for unemployment, or staying in touch with family and friends around the world.  We ask that you use the provided wipes to wipe down the computer you are using before and after you use it to ensure your safety.   Again, be sure to give us a call or email to schedule your appointment

  • For Everyone’s Protection:  We will be allowing up to 5 people in the building at one time to enable social distancing.  The Staff will be cleaning throughout the day as needed. Returning book covers will be wiped down and put into quarantine for 3 days before they will be received.   All magazines, newspapers, games, and puzzles have been packed away at this time.
