Stakeholder Meeting #2

In today’s climate of public accountability, continual change, and reduced resources, a community-focused strategic plan is essential for effective library service. The Stilwell Public Library is embarking upon just such a planning process, and we are requesting your help. We will be using Public Library Association’s Strategic Planning for Results, the most up-to-date planning model for public libraries, as well as looking at key trends that were recently identified in the American Library Association’s Libraries Transform initiative. The planning process begins by seeking community input to set priorities based on local needs. On Monday, April 30th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm we are seeking a bit of your time to serve on the community planning team. This group will work with our consultant, Becky Heil, from the State Library of Iowa to discuss local needs and make recommendations for library service priorities. Refreshments will be served by the North Mahaska Spanish Club and a free will donation for their upcoming trip will be welcomed! We don’t expect you to have any special knowledge of the library operations. Your role will be to represent varied interests in the community and share your perspectives on the community’s needs. The most important qualification for being on this team is a commitment to the future of our community. Following the community planning team meetings, the library board and staff will take the guidance from the team and develop a plan to guide the library over the next few years. You will be informed along the way and have an opportunity to provide feedback, but you will not be committed to any further meetings. We hope you will be able to join us as we plan an exciting future for the Stilwell Public Library. If you had to miss the first meeting, please join us for the second!
